1. Overview
GeoHunter is an educational geography game available on web (geohuntergame.com) and mobile (iOS). The core game is free to play. Optional paid features include subscriptions and one-time purchases. By using GeoHunter you agree to these terms. If you disagree, please stop using the service.
2. Gameplay & Fair Use
- Don't cheat, exploit bugs, or automate gameplay.
- Don't attempt to access private APIs or source datasets improperly.
- Don't impersonate the project or misuse branding.
- Social features (VS mode, challenges, friends) must be used respectfully. Harassment or abuse may result in account suspension.
3. Accounts
Creating an account is optional for casual play but required for leaderboards, daily challenges, VS mode, and saving progress across devices. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete Account.
4. Subscriptions & In-App Purchases
GeoHunter offers optional paid content. Prices shown are in USD.
GeoHunter Pro — Auto-Renewable Subscription
- Weekly: automatically renews each week
- Monthly: automatically renews each month
- Yearly: automatically renews each year
Includes: Weekly Pro game mode, pro leaderboard badge, yellow name highlight, pro-only leaderboards.
GeoHunter Explorer (No Ads) — Auto-Renewable Subscription
- Monthly: automatically renews each month
- Yearly: automatically renews each year
Removes all advertisements from the game.
One-Time Purchases (Non-Refundable)
- USA States Mode — unlocks the USA States game mode
- Canada Mode — unlocks the Canada provinces & territories game mode
- Europe Mode — unlocks the Europe countries game mode
One-time purchases are permanent and tied to your account.
Payment processors: Web purchases are handled by Stripe. iOS purchases are handled by Apple via the App Store (processed through RevenueCat). Payment is charged to your Stripe account or Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of each period at the price confirmed at purchase.
Managing & cancelling subscriptions:
- iOS: Go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device.
- Web: Go to geohuntergame.com/subscriptions to manage or cancel.
Refunds: For iOS purchases, refunds are handled by Apple according to their standard policy. For web purchases via Stripe, contact us at /contact within 14 days. We do not offer refunds for one-time purchases once content has been accessed.
Restore purchases: Use the "Restore Purchases" option in the app to recover previously purchased content on a new device.
5. Social Features
GeoHunter includes social features: friend connections, VS mode head-to-head challenges, custom challenge sharing, and leaderboards. Usernames and scores are publicly visible on leaderboards. Challenge links shared by you can be played by anyone with the link. You can remove friends or block challenges at any time from your account settings.
6. Intellectual Property
Site design, game logic and compiled assets are © GeoHunter. Real‑world data sources remain owned by their origin publishers. Fan content and educational sharing is fine with attribution; direct code or content copying is not.
7. Data & Privacy
We aim to keep personal data collection minimal.
- Email address and username (required for account)
- Game scores, stats, streaks, and daily progress
- Purchased products and subscription status
- Home country and active badge (optional, user-set)
- Push notification token (iOS, if you grant permission)
- Game settings (sound, hints, flag display, language)
- Best scores cache for offline display
- Anonymous usage analytics
- Ad signals (Google AdSense on web, Google AdMob on iOS)
- Government IDs, addresses, or personal demographics
- Precise location data
- Payment card details (handled entirely by Stripe / Apple)
Third-party services we use:
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting
- Stripe — web payment processing
- RevenueCat — iOS in-app purchase management
- Google AdSense — web advertising
- Google AdMob — iOS advertising
- Google Analytics — anonymous usage analytics (web)
- Expo / Apple Push Notification Service — optional push notifications (iOS)
Each third-party service is governed by its own privacy policy. If you contact us, your email or handle is only used to reply.
Data deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time via Settings → Delete Account.
8. Advertising
Free users see ads. Subscribers to Explorer (No Ads) do not.
- Web: Ads provided by Google AdSense. Google and partners may use cookies and local storage to deliver and measure personalised or contextual ads.
- iOS: Ads provided by Google AdMob. Ad personalisation follows your iOS app tracking transparency (ATT) consent choice.
- You can manage ad personalisation at Google Ad Settings.
- Browser controls let you block or clear cookies at any time.
9. Accuracy & Educational Use
Rankings are simplified snapshots from public datasets. They may be capped or approximated for game balance. Use them as learning prompts, not definitive statistical references. If something looks wrong you can send a correction.
10. Liability
The service is provided "as is". We are not liable for indirect or incidental damages arising from use, inability to use, ad content, or third‑party links. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature at any time.
11. Changes
We may update these terms or the privacy section. Material changes will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use means acceptance of the updated terms.
